Your headliner JEAN PAUL (As Seen On BREAKFAST TELEVISION)
Trinidadian-born, Brooklyn raised and currently resident of Toronto, comedian Jean Paul has always had an innate sense of humour. Maybe it’s because of his curious nature; maybe it’s because of his light-hearted view on life. Whatever the reason, Jean knew at an early age that a career in comedy was right for him. Since then, Jean has travelled extensively across Canada, the U.S., the Caribbean, South Africa and the U.K., performing at such legendary venues as the Apollo in New York, the Comedy Store in London, and at Place des Arts in Montreal. No stranger to the festival circuit, Jean has performed at Just For Laughs, Halifax and Winnipeg comedy Festivals and, among other credits has written for and toured with Russell Peters.
Jean has also been nominated for several prestigious awards, including the Tim Sims’ Award for up-and-coming comedians, and a Gemini Award for Best Writing in a Comedy Series.
He has also proven his talent in on TV and film. He has conquered television as a correspondent on Phat TV, portrayed a wide assortment of characters in the CBC special Thick and Thin, appeared multiple times as a guest on the CBC’s Strombo Show and on CTV’s A Russell Peters Christmas Special. He also played the popular Fluff E the Hip-Hop Bunny, on the Comedy Network’s Buzz Show, and is featured in Home Again and A Universal Language.
MC Justin Shaw
Justin Shaw is a comedian and storyteller originally from Prince Edward Island (and if you’re also from Prince Edward Island, his dad probably knows your dad.) His solo show The 70 Mile Yard Sale was listed as ‘Critic’s Choice” in the 2022 Hamilton Fringe Festival, and was the subject of his TV series Tales From Island Boy on Bell FibeTV1. He has appeared on Mike Birbiglia’s Working It Out comedy show, has opened for Fortune Feimster, and tours regularly with Yuk Yuks across Ontario. His debut comedy album Human Money showcases his down-home yet outrageous sense of humour, and can be heard on Sirius XM.
Featuring Mike Mitchell
Mike Mitchell began his comedy career in 2016 as a way to chase his childhood dream of writing brief bios in the third person. Mike created, produced, and acted in the Bell FibeTv1 original series, This Is The Thing, now in its second season, and won the Go Yuk Yourself comedy competition in Hamilton. He also enjoys the hell out of an ice-cold Coca Cola. Original, not diet. But diet is fine, too.
