Brock Mattsson

Brock Mattsson is a singer / songwriter who creates smooth gentle sounds of sorrow. Having traveled across Canada majorly in their 20’s. Brock now has moved back to his hometown of Barrie. “[Being] somewhat of a new and quite mysterious artist in the country world.” – Flex Music Blog. They only have two singles out to date, ‘Rather Be With You’ and ‘Are You Thinking of Me’. Both songs  come from past experiences, where they’re mixed with traditional sounds of 60’s country. Going forward Mattsson hopes to share their songwriting to those whose love for country music still thrives.

In the past Brock has performed over Southern and Northern Ontario as a solo artist and as part of the bands Hymn Villa and Fuzzy & The Boys. He’s now looking to get back into his songwriting and play country music for all. Recently moving to Prince Edward Island, Brock is looking forward to spreading his works in the Maritimes where his family’s country roots started. Brock Mattsson’s new track “Rather Be With You” is the complete single of Brock’s first 7 inch record, which will be released on vinyl via Fishbum Records this Fall. As well as the future 7″ release, Brock plans to record old songs and new, while expanding his home studio in P.E.I. and plans to release an album by next year.

Singer / Songwriter Brock Mattsson is back with his follow up single to “Are You Thinking of Me” with “Rather Be with You” a song about laying with another but being infatuated with someone else. “I wrote and recorded this song back in 2017 after living in Edmonton, AB., where I had just met someone I developed butterflies for after just uprooting my life from Barrie to the Prairies. And I couldn’t shake them from my mind no matter how hard I tried. I took this song as well as my first single to Cohen Wylie who was working at Threshold Recording Studios in Hamilton. Being my friend, I trusted him to engineer and produce my song.

His love for music and sound is unparalleled to anyone else I have been around. He also got to put a solo on this track which was fun. It was an amazing experience and I truly believe Threshold Studio is the best place to create music and I’m happy to have recorded there. Owner Micheal Kiere is the kindest soul around.” Mattsson’s latest release gives listener’s a glimpse into the past where you’re taken back to a peanut covered barroom, the pedal steel guitar dancing around the strum of the guitar, with Brock singing about the desire of love that won’t be, and the heartache of longing while laying in bed with someone else.
