Headliner – Citizen Kane’s SPADE
The legendary Jeff ‘Spade’ Duke, is a true pioneer in Canadian Hip Hop culture. Hailing from Scarborough, Toronto, Jeff is a multi-talented artist whose contributions span across b-boying, graffiti, emceeing, and record label ownership.
As a founding member of Citizen Kane, alongside Rob “Blye” Paris, Jeff helped shape the golden era of Canadian Hip Hop. Their debut single “Soul Survivor” (1995) and groundbreaking albums The Epic (1997) and Deliverance (1999) cemented their place in hip-hop history, with Deliverance hailed as one of the best Canadian Hip Hop releases of the ‘90s.
Citizen Kane’s journey, including their tireless promotion of Deliverance during a challenging time for Canadian hip hop, was chronicled in the National Film Board of Canada’s documentary Raisin’ Kane: A Rapumentary (2001), directed by Jeff’s sister, Alison Duke. The group also earned two Juno Award nominations for Rap Recording of the Year.
